Proudly Established in 2015 – The Rio Grande Valley’s First Miniature Hereford Breeder

Nestled on 25 acres in Lyford, Texas, in the heart of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, Trapped In Time Miniature Herefords was founded with a simple goal: to raise high-quality Miniature Herefords while preserving the values of tradition, family, and youth involvement. We are proud to be the Rio Grande Valley’s first Miniature Hereford breeder.

Our journey began in 2014 when our daughter, Montanna affectionately known as Tanna attended a livestock show where she first laid eyes on a Miniature Hereford. Inspired and determined, she couldn’t stop talking about them. After weeks of searching for the right breeder, we were blessed to find Kyle Shipley of Glory Farms Miniature Herefords in Fairfield, Texas.

Kyle and his family welcomed us with open arms and helped us get started by providing Tanna with a gentle, show-ready heifer that would become the foundation of our herd. Tanna was even given the honor of naming her first 4-H project calf: GF Trapped In September, the name that would later inspire our ranch’s own identity.

Many of our foundation females still trace back to Glory Farms, and to this day, they have allowed Tanna to continue naming each calf we purchase. Most carry names tied to the months of the year, a fun and meaningful tradition that began as thoughtful accommodation for Tanna’s dyslexia. Her grandmother suggested it as a way to help Tanna quickly recall each heifer’s birthdate in the show ring, and over time, it became a special connection between Tanna and Glory Farms.

What began with one heifer in early 2015 has grown into a thriving herd of 35. Today, we remain committed to producing structurally sound, well-mannered, and competitive Miniature Herefords while honoring the foundation that brought us here.
